I had an hour to kill and was near a POTA park, so figured I’d do a quick activation. Fleetwood Marsh is an odd Park, being located behind a “recycling center” and landfill that can give off quite a smell if the weather is warm. However, once you’ve driven past that and made it to the park, it really is a nice spot. There’s plenty of parking – I’ve been here a few times and it’s never been so busy that I couldn’t park. It’s a great spot for bird watchers too, if you’re into that.

The park has plenty of space if you want to decamp and head to a quiet spot on foot; it was raining and I was tight for time so I did the lazy thing and activated from the truck.
The park is really worth a look though, it’s a nice spot to walk the dog and curiously there’s a collection of shipwrecks within a short walk from this park (actually located in another park if you fancy a back-to-back activation – I don’t believe it’s a 2fer, but GB-1607 is right next door).
There’s also an active model flying club in the park, and whilst they weren’t flying on this rainy day, you can often catch them on nicer days.
Well, I was tight for time so grabbed 12 QSOs on FT8 in 40 minutes and hit the road again. Activation complete.
Here’s a photo of one of the shipwrecks, definitely worth a look if you’re in the area – but it can be very muddy underfoot.
